MOKA POT (Stovetop Espresso)

The Moka Pot offers a classic and rich brewing experience, producing a bold, concentrated coffee that’s often described as stovetop espresso. Using gentle steam pressure, it pushes hot water through finely ground coffee to extract deep, intense flavors and a naturally creamy mouthfeel.

What You’ll Need:

  • Moka pot
  • Fine ground coffee (a bit coarser than espresso)
  • Kettle (optional)
  • Stove

Preparation:

  • Water: Fill lower chamber just below the valve
  • Coffee: Fill basket and level off (don’t tamp)
  • Use hot water to reduce bitterness

Brew Process:

  1. Assemble pot and place on medium heat.
  2. Brew until you hear a gurgling sound.
  3. Remove from heat immediately.
  4. Cool bottom under water to stop extraction.
  5. Serve and enjoy.

Roaster’s Tip: Use freshly ground coffee just slightly coarser than espresso — too fine and you’ll risk over-extraction or clogging. Preheat your water before adding it to the bottom chamber to reduce the time the coffee spends over heat, helping preserve delicate flavors and avoid bitterness.
