MOKA POT (Stovetop Espresso)
The Moka Pot offers a classic and rich brewing experience, producing a bold, concentrated coffee that’s often described as stovetop espresso. Using gentle steam pressure, it pushes hot water through finely ground coffee to extract deep, intense flavors and a naturally creamy mouthfeel.
What You’ll Need:
-
Moka pot
-
Fine ground coffee (a bit coarser than espresso)
-
Kettle (optional)
-
Stove
Preparation:
-
Water: Fill lower chamber just below the valve
-
Coffee: Fill basket and level off (don’t tamp)
-
Use hot water to reduce bitterness
Brew Process:
-
Assemble pot and place on medium heat.
-
Brew until you hear a gurgling sound.
-
Remove from heat immediately.
-
Cool bottom under water to stop extraction.
- Serve and enjoy.
Roaster’s Tip: Use freshly ground coffee just slightly coarser than espresso — too fine and you’ll risk over-extraction or clogging. Preheat your water before adding it to the bottom chamber to reduce the time the coffee spends over heat, helping preserve delicate flavors and avoid bitterness.
